Skyrim 'Hearthfire' DLC turns your Elder Scrolls into The Sims, coming to Xbox 360 on Sept. 4

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's next add-on, Hearthfire, will be arriving on Xbox 360 next week, Bethesda announced.

So what does this new add-on do? Remember, when Bethesda said they want to release "meaty" DLC for Skyrim? Well, this goes totally against that. Sorry, no zombies in this DLC.

This new add-on, which will release for only 400 Microsoft Points ($5.00), adds just one main feature — the option to build a custom house and start a family. Uhhh...did I miss something? When did Skyrim turn into The Sims?

A new trailer was released showing off the new feature. With Hearthfire you can purchase land and build your own home from the ground up. Using the drafting table and carpenter's workbench you can turn raw materials into "your dream house". And it's not just building a house, but it's also decorating it. It's your very own Barbie dream house filled with decorations, furniture, and treasures!

But a house in The Sims...err...I mean Skyrim is nothing without a family! Hearthfire allows you to move in your spouse and adopt a child with a new adoption system. And then enjoy raising them.

If you are interested in turning your Elder Scrolls V experience into The Sims, look out for it on Xbox LIVE on September 4th. No PC or PS3 release date has been announced (and that's probably a good thing). It's good to know that while PS3 users are still awaiting the arrival of the first expansion, Dawnguard, Xbox 360 users will soon be able build houses!
